Last Post

Well, that's it everyone, we're all back home safe and sound. Thanks for participating in the Great Chucks World Tour Blog over the past few weeks. No doubt you'll all get to hear of our exploits in detail sometime in the near future. Until then, Adios! (or Grazie, as Pom would say).

Sydney

In Sydney with Pom's bro Steve and Helen. Only twelve hours before getting home.

Central Karon Village

This the pool at our sweet hotel on Phuket island. We have our own contained house amoungst the jungle. We're either in this pool or our airconditioned room cause it way too hot to be outside. They drive us around the resort in golf carts! The only downside is the masses of tropical man eating insects.

PP Island.... AKA the beach

We are on our high powered speed boat somewhere between Phuket and PP island
which is where the movie "the beach" was filmed. Photo: Self portrait -The Pom

Jimmy

We don't actually know his name, but we came across this fella while out on the scooters. He led us up this long and shoddy dirt track to his mate's farm on top of a mountain where we were afforded splendid views of the island.

Defensive Perimeter

Due to the large amount of brightly coloured and heavily armoured Fast Attack Beetles (who flaps their wings like they're birds, but sound like helicopters), Mazza has resorted to deploying his heavy-duty net at nights, when he figures he is at his most vulnerable.

Shaken, not stirred

We had to do it, even though we were the only ones in the pool. This sort of opportunity doesn't come around often...

Off-road Scootering

Scooters in Phuket, somewhere south of Kata Beach.

A Scene

We've been waiting all trip for Mazza to cause a scene. He chose Thailand.

Clapton

Yes, we did manage to get tickets to Clapton. Mazza arranged a clandestine meeting with a cheeky darky racketeer near the Underground and we were away laughing. Here Eric sings us a couple of lullabyes at the Royal Albert Hall. Shame we haven't figured out how to post videos yet.

Well, I have nothing further to add. Do you?

Pomp and Ceremony

Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. Ponsy gits. Bet they don't even know where the trigger is on their rifle.

Oggys in the Rain

A mild improvement in the weather today - from frequent downpours to slightly less frequent downpours. Having seen Coronation Street, though, we haven't been surprised with the weather. Here we are enjoying some fruit Oggys (Cornish Pasties) in Falmouth.

Local Climate

Caught out in rain for about the eighty-ninth time in the Motherland, this time with Mike's parents. This is at St Michael's Mount, somewhere in Cornwall.

Porterhouse Feast

Our last night in Dublin, with a few of the gang from the tour - the Yanks on Mike's side and Ben the Aussie doing some dragon thing behind P-Man. A bundle of laughs, were this lot.

Downtown Dublin

Pom and P-Man looking down the Liffey in Dublin.

Irish Countryside

The scenery in Ireland is more or less the same as New Zealand, making it relatively easy to sleep on the bus between stops.

On the Edge

Prada and Pom checking out the 700ft drop off the Cliffs of Moher. You might need to zoom and enhance to see them lying on the rock.

Clonmacnoise

The Pom at the ruins of Clonmacnoise on the first day of our Shamrocker tour of Ireland.

McBeer

Prada couldn't resist the offer of beer with his Macca's in Andorra

Andorra

The capital of Andorra is a duty-free haven jammed in a valley between Spain and France. Everyone smokes. Everyone.

Tossa Park Pool

Synchronised diving - Tossa Park Hotel Pool

Skinned Cat

Apparently, Skinned cat is a delicacy in Spain. $4.75Euro a piece.

Palamos

Palamos, a little seaside fishing village up the coast from Tossa de Mar. Prada has been removed from caption duties.

Simons Fountain - Montjuic

This is a fountain, Simon likes fountains.

Barcelona

Prada and Pom taking a stroll on a downtown Barcelona beach.

Tossa De Mar Spain

This is Tossa De Mar where we are staying for the next 3 days, small costal town, north of Barcelona. Everything is cheap as chips, Bottle of red wine, $0.95Euro = $NZ1.80

Castle in Spain

This castle is on the headland in the small town where we are staying in spain.

Royal w/ Cheese

Royal w/ Cheese at Mc Donald France, ex pulp fiction, also note the beer on the menu.

Perpignan -France

We took a detour into france right after we arrived in spain, everything was closed - may 8 1945 end of world war II.

Last Supper

The lads enjoying our last meal in Rome in the middle of a little street not far from our hostel. Note the generous size of the birra being enjoyed by Prada and P-Man.

Hallowed Rays

Inside Basillica San Pietro (Saint Peters Digs) in the Vatican City. The boys in flowing robes must've thrown around a bit of holy dust to create this rather eiree effect.

Gladiator

The great gladiator known as The Pom listens to the tour guide on his walkie-talkie (but without the talkie ability) inside the Colosseum.

On the Prowl for a Roman Feed

Pom and Prada at Piazza della Repubblica, a couple of blocks from our accommodation, whilst out hunting for some pizza, pasta and gelato.

Heathrow Transit

The Three Ps lounging around at Heathrow Terminal 1 waiting for the Rome connection, all still a wee bit low from the industrial-strength, sugar-coated American sleeping pills.

Manhattan Cruise

Prada took this lovely shot of downtown Manhattan from our harbour cruise.

NYPD Blue

Pom and P-Man checking out the "rig" in an NYPD squad car. Not as good as P-Man's Squad Car. His is from the Bronx.

Babyback Ribs

The only time (unfortunately) we got to enjoy ribs. And they were gooooooood. We tried looking for another rib place on our way out but ended up in some ghetto where bums were warming their hands over 44gal drums of burning litter. Settled for In and Out Burger instead.

The Glass Church

Inside Crystal Cathedral in LA. Fantastic set-up.

Knott's Berry Farm - Finger-lickin' Good!

Prada always has time for a feed, especially if it's something he hasn't tried before. Roller-coasters won't stop him either. Knott's Berry Farm was a hoot.

Shopping Like a Bunch of Girls

Palm Springs was closed, so instead Peterson dragged Pom and Mazz-daddy around mall shopping for a whole day.

Free Loving on the Freelove Freeway

A typical speed on the freeway. We weren't passing many cars, in fact, shortly afterwards a Ferrari passed us.

Hoover Dam

On a whim we shot over to the Hoover Dam on our way back to LA from Vegas. It was freakin' hot, something like 38 degrees Celcius and dry as a bone. We had a dip in Lake Mead on the way out owing to the heat, despite it costing us a fiver!

Stratosphere Tower

On top of our Hotel in Vegas - the Stratosphere Tower.

Bellagio

The Pom and P-Man in front of the fountain show at the Bellagio. You have to see the show to believe it - it's craziness.

The Strip (part of it)

Prada and the Pom in Vegas, looking down the Strip. Lots of pretty lightses.

Ceasars Palace

Prada and P-Man in front of Ceasar's Palace in Vegas.

Bob and Al

Bob and Al, whom we met and shared a light beer with in the desert. Bob was ok, Al was one of those guys with a faceful of teeth who spends his days shooting soft toys off the roof of a car wreck with his shotgun. He doesn't really have a job.

Rental Adventures

On day three we head off to Las Vegas. En route we take a side road to test the radial traction capabilities of our Jeep. Afterwards, we were put to good use helping some goomie Americans get their GMC out of the sand.

Airfest '06

P-Man demanded everyone attend the Airfest 2006 at March Air Force Base on our second day in LA. And it was a good thing too, something you'll never get to experience in little wee NZ.
